Regular check-ins and clear communication

Your annual strategy meeting sets a broad plan for the next three to five years. We want to know your business goals so that we can help you develop an IT roadmap that will help you achieve them.

Quarterly meetings are an opportunity to look at the next three to six months and fine tune your plan. Each quarterly meeting starts with a status update and a brief look at our service delivery, followed by a deep dive into infrastructure, risk management, or service delivery. We offer data-backed insights in meetings—such as security risks, industry trends, and ROI projections.

Here’s what we cover over the year:

  • Tech infrastructure: Are your servers, workstations and network still meeting your needs?
  • Risk: Security policies and procedures, backup and disaster recovery, and compliance.
  • Service delivery: Client survey results, user onboarding and offboarding procedures, documentation review, and applications
  • Strategy and operations: We review your current tech, what you need to stay functional, and what kind of tech budget you need and whether your current tech is adequate to meet your needs and goals.

Cost transparency

No one likes hidden costs, so we make every effort to keep you informed. Once a plan is made at your quarterly meeting, we arrange for an engineer to provide an accurate cost assessment that includes any needed equipment and labor.

If work needs to be done that is beyond the scope of your monthly managed services plan, we provide you with the cost ahead of time. This includes computer replacements, operating system upgrades, and upgrades to business-critical software.

We’re here for you, we listen, we will pull the resources together to meet your needs. We do the very best we can to understand what your needs are so we can recommend an appropriate solution.

—Amy Birckhead, Account Manager, E-N Computers

When you keep us in the loop about your business plans, we can provide more accurate proposals and do more to keep your IT costs in check.

Tailored technology roadmap

Your IT roadmap should reflect your business needs and goals. Every year, we take time to go over how your business is changing and how the tech landscape is changing. These regular sessions keep you adaptable and enable you to take advantage of new offerings that can streamline your operations.

We work with businesses that are at different stages, and we also understand that you may need to scale your services up or down as you grow or experience slow periods

We prefer to build long-term relationships to understand not just IT needs, but also how those needs interact with business goals.

IT technical account management

Expert guidance and support

Our administrative account manager, Amy, is your main point of contact. She responds promptly, follows through, and makes sure you get an answer to your questions.

You’ll also have the support of our technical account manager, Kevin, and a whole team of engineers and technicians focused on providing you with the best solution possible.

Vendor management involves communicating with your other vendors like hardware, software, cloud and telecommunications to produce the best outcome. We coordinate with them to make sure software is configured correctly, migrations go smoothly, and that we are all planning ahead.

A few ways we manage costs and save money

Scheduled hardware replacement. Replacing hardware should never be a surprise. A regular schedule means that you always have reliable hardware. It’s up to you whether to replace the whole fleet at once or on a staggered schedule.

Warranties. When you buy workstations through us, we recommend the manufacturer’s extended three-to-five-year warranty. We highly recommend keeping servers under warranty, and love ScalePad warranties for next-day replacement parts. Meraki network equipment is under warranty for the duration of its license.

Sample upgrade cost management

Windows 10 End of LifeServer out of storage
You bought computers with Windows 10 licenses. The operating system will reach end-of-life in October 2025. We develop a plan with you to either upgrade them to Windows 11 or replace them with new computers that come with Windows 11. This can be done all at once or staggered before the deadline. You have an older server that’s running out of storage space, but you’re planning a cloud transition in the medium term. We’ll see if we can increase storage space on the server you have instead of buying a new one.

Helping Virginia businesses plan and save

A small business paid more but it cost less

An 18-user Lexington, VA nonprofit organization was paying their old IT vendor $1,365 a month.

The ENC managed services plan ran about $1,000 more per month – but the nonprofit was able to immediately realize savings when E-N Computers retired their very expensive legacy phone system and replaced it with a state-of-the-art VoIP system for a fraction of the monthly cost.

Also, ENC was able to cut their internet service bill nearly in half. This resulted in a net savings of over $700 per month or $8500 per year.

Helping healthcare evaluate better (and more secure) software

MCV Foundation, the philanthropic arm of VCU Health, needed to replace their donor database, a critical line-of-business application. ENC was able to evaluate options and plan the replacement, while implementing best practices for data security.

Now MCVF has an improved donor platform that better meets their needs and is more protective of sensitive donor information.
