Who are the best outsourced IT service providers in Richmond, Virginia? Here at E-N Computers, we meet with lots of people who want to get the best technology support for their home or business. As much as we’d love to “do it all”, not every opportunity is a good fit for the services we provide. But we do want everyone to find the technology solution that is right for them, so we frequently recommend other IT providers in and around Richmond that will be a better fit.
Having worked in the IT industry since 1997, I’ve had the opportunity to meet other IT business leaders at industry trade shows and conferences. We also occasionally conduct 3rd party audits or IT assessments for different companies, which gives us a chance to peek “behind the scenes” at the operations of other IT vendors.
Or we’ve been involved with transitioning a business to or from another IT service provider due to management shakeups or mergers and acquisitions. Of course, the IT industry continues to change, and I’ll be reassessing my list based on some new mergers..
Proxios – Best outsourced cloud-hosted IT services in Richmond
I previously listed Proxios as a top managed IT services provider laser-focused on cloud-hosted solutions. Their team exceled in modernizing enterprise IT infrastructure and revolutionizing IT departments. They were one of the few Richmond managed services providers who can take on large-scale cloud migrations – over 500 seats – in an orderly fashion.
But Proxios was acquired by SourcePass earlier this year. Proxios CEO Patrick Butler remains part of the team. So I hope to provide an update soon on how this transfer affects local Richmond business.
As a side note, Proxios had one of Richmond’s coolest offices, on the 17th floor of the Federal Reserve Building. Definitely check them out for managed IT cloud solutions in Richmond, even if it’s just for the chance to have lunch in the Federal Reserve cafeteria.

Network Technology + Support (NTS) – Best government contractor outsourced IT service in Richmond
A world away from Proxios’s commanding view, you’ll find NTS’s offices tucked away in a suburban Midlothian office park. But don’t let the humble environment fool you – NTS founder and president Bernard Robinson is one of the most energetic and focused IT leaders I know. He’s grown the company first in the Richmond location and then to a new office in Virginia Beach. NTS has been awarded the DiversityBusiness.com Top 100 Diversity Owned Business for several years running.

Technology Assistance Group (TAG) – Best new outsourced IT service in Richmond
TAG you’re IT! I’m right there with Technology Assurance Group CEO P. Sean Francis’s punny sense of IT humor. A relative newcomer to the Richmond IT scene, especially compared with some of the older names on this list, TAG was founded in the mid-2000s.
I had the opportunity to get to know Sean over beers at ConnectWise partner events through the years, and the energy and fresh perspective he brings to the IT business in Richmond is a welcome change. One thing I appreciate is that TAG offers e-waste recycling. E-waste is a growing problem, and few IT providers are able to address it and the data security concerns that come with it.
TAG provides quality IT support to the backbone of Richmond small businesses, including the Mom & Pop shops and neighborhood doctors’ offices that we all depend on.

Sklar Technology Partners – Best outsourced IT service for business leadership in Richmond
Sklar has been around since the beginning. Founded in 1982 and run by second-generation CEO Randy Sklar, they truly offer community, business and thought leadership in the Richmond IT space. Randy has served on the board of the Virginia Council of CEOs and regularly posts insightful videos to his YouTube channel. He also leads Team Sklar, a charity dedicated to supporting those impacted by childhood cancer and hunger.

Drum roll please – my #1 pick for best IT service company in Richmond was SyCom Technologies. Founded in 1996, SyCom was launched with the aim of providing world-class IT service and support. some 20 years later, they continued to accomplish this as they’ve become one of the largest IT solution providers in the Mid-Atlantic region.
And then they were purchased by InterVision. InterVision’s headquarters is in Chesterfield, Missouri, and they have 11 offices globally. So we’ll be updating this one as well..
